What Behavioral Counseling Addresses
Behavioral counseling is for dogs experiencing emotional, cognitive, or stress-related challenges that impact safety, quality of life, or human–animal relationships.
This work is not obedience training. While skills may be incorporated, the primary focus is on:
- Emotional regulation
- Stress reduction and threshold management
- Trigger identification and modification
- Safety planning and risk mitigation
- Owner education, confidence rebuilding, and decision support
Treating areas of:
- Reactivity toward people, dogs, or environmental stimuli

Cases requiring medical or pharmacological intervention are addressed collaboratively with licensed veterinarians when appropriate.
